Where is "People" application data stored? (5340e)
« on: August 14, 2015, 06:07:31 PM »
Hi folks,
Does anyone know where the data for the "people" application is stored? It's only available on our 5340's but not the 5330's, and the contents aren't visible anywhere in the mivoice back-end (that I can see.)

I'd like to be able to edit these from a pc. Assuming they're "in the phoneset" somewhere, is there a pc application that can be used to edit these?

Thanks!
-dg

What is the "People" application?
Guess I don't know that one.

Apparently this is stumping everyone I ask.
The 5340e has an entry under the blue applications button called "People." Apparently it is some kind of personal 'address book' type of storage, on the actual phone itself, that isn't visible on the 3300 back end.
Ours have 50 slots for name/number stores. I've never used it, so I don't know all the details exactly, but from what I understand, folks can add 'to people' from history as well.

Thanks!

Would that be personal speed calls then? although I thought that was restricted to 20...

No, apparently not. I have no personal speed calls listed on the admin site.

The 'people' app and the contents are apparently in the phone somewhere. No idea how it works.

My issue is twofold - I'd like to admin these numbers because we're switching from '9' to '#' for outdial. I'd like to be able to change all the numbers in this 'store' to prefix with a #, rather than having the user do them one by one.

The second issue is one of privacy. What happens if I have to swap the phone to another extension/user? Evidently these numbers are in the actual phoneset itself, so the 'new' user would have all these random numbers in their supposedly 'new' phone! (Yes, I know I can restore to factory if needed, but I didn't realize I had to do this to clear a phone.)

Thanks!

From the 5340 user guide.
Looks like the people app is only added to and modified locally on the phone.

DG,
Are you making this switch because of 911 misdials?

I wonder whether this may use the value in system options. Likely does IMHO
