T1/E1 Module # 1 Port #001 In Red Alarm
« on: February 17, 2015, 02:48:04 PM »
Hi Everyone,

We have two Mitel 5000 systems that keep giving the error in the subject line. I can't seem to find too much info as to what it actually means. It looks like the system is automatically clearing the error when it occurs, which i thought was strange. The system says the severity of the error is "Major".

We are experiencing poor call quality at times on one of the systems as well.

Thanks for any help in advance.

xxovermetalxx,

The error [T1/E1 Module # 1 Port #001 In Red Alarm] means that the first port in your dual T1/E1 card is having issues communicating with your T1 Provider. You will need to get a technician on site to determine the exact nature of the issue, but it does account for your poor call quality and most likely dropped calls.

Sorry,

TE

Thanks for the reply. The issues have not presented themselves in the past week, which is both good and bad. It's always scary when problems "fix" themselves. You would say that the error indicates an external rather than internal network issue?

Again, thanks a lot for the help.

You can also run the command "DTSTAT READ <plid of your T1/E1> last 24" to see if you get slips and errors which can account to your intermittent poor voice quality.

The error could be caused by the card itself, a bad connection between the system and the demarc, or an issue with the carrier. If it cleared up on its own and hasn't returned, it was most likely with the carrier. Hardware issues rarely fix themselves.

A T1 alarm will clear automatically when the problem is resolved.

Xxovermetalxx,

Most likely the Red Alarm was due to a Blue or Yellow alarm sent from the Carrier which puts us in that state.

Thanks,

TE
