Who would have thunk it?
Mitel makes offer to buy ShoreTel.
ShoreTel Rejects but offer remains in effect until 20 November 2014.

Interesting strategy. They seem to be on a campaign to publicly pressure the ShoreTel board to reconsider. Kind of interesting considering the rocky past the 2 companies have had.

Who next? Avaya? Mitel wants to rule the world...didn't they try this once before and got their fingers burnt?

I think this will happen.
I suspect that Shoretel is holding out for more.
We shouldn't expect them to accept the first offer.

If Shoretel completely rejects Mitel's attempts then I think Mitel is positioning itself for a hostile take over.
Either way I think it happens.

Now the question becomes how will Mitel VARS integrate the Shoretel product line into their strategy.

I have to agree with Ralph, Sir Terry is a smart guy and likely has the financial backing to take them over. I don't thing they have shown much to their shareholders, and have put themselves in a position that may be hard to defend.
