5212 & 5224 NTP problem
Ryann:
Hi there,
I apologize if this is the wrong place for this thread.
At my work we have Mitel VoIP phones of models 5212 and 5224. If ever these phones are powered off/restarted, the time resets itself back to 00:00, and the year 1970. In trying to get the phone to automatically sync with a time server, I have entered the time server ntp.mel.nml.csiro.au via the phones' web servers & selected +10 (as we are located in Melbourne, Australia). However, when I restarted the phones the times once again reset to 00:00, and I had to change them manually.
Is there any way to rectify this problem so that the time is always up to date with the ntp server, and will automatically sync after restarting?
Thanks very much in advance.
Mitel100:
You will need to set the time and date on the 3300 platform and not the phone, once set here the phone will get the correct time when they reboot. If you have MCD 4.0 of the 3300 you can sync with an NTP server..

He could be running SIP on the phones to a 3rd party call server. If that is the case there is a place to put a NTP server in the config of the phone.
Does the network that the IP phones are on have access to the internet and NTP its not being blocked by the firewall or anything like that.
Do you have an internal NTP server you could point to?
Ryann:
The call server is located in our offices.
Yes they have internet access and NTP is not being blocked, however we do not have an internal NTP server. If we set that up on the call server and point the phones there will they resync upon reboot? They are currently pointed to an external NTP server and are not syncing with it.
v2win:
What are you using for a call server.
Normally the Mitel phones are registered to a Mitel call server and they get the time from it.
