Can I Redirect a DID to an outside number?
« on: June 23, 2014, 10:11:24 AM »
How can I setup a new DID number (not assigned to anyone) to redirect to an outside number?
I have gotten a request to setup a phone number that when called, will ring a 3rd party company we partner with.

Can you set up a phantom extension, assign that DID to that extension and then manually forward (359) the extension to the outside DID?
That is how I do it.

This keeps getting better....

I created a phantom ext (found a youtube video), assigned it to a DID.
Called that DID, and its already a live residential number  :o

I stopped at that point.

When you create a phantom extension (example 2000) then you would dial 359, 2000, 2000# 355, outgoing then the phone number you want it to forward to then hang up.
Then when you dial 2000 it should forward to that number you want.
If that works then assign 2000 (or whatever you make the extension) to the DID.

Dan231,

If you are not that familiar with the system then maybe doing DEE is the best way for you; that is if you have DEE on your system.

Create a phantom, but don't worry about doing the forwarding portion. Now, create a User and select that Phantom as the Main Number. Then go under Associated Destinations and set the Mobile to the number you want it to go to. You can set the Main extension to Inactive, but definitely set the Voicemail to Inactive. This way you can also send the call to the number you want and easily change it when necessary. Either way you are taking up 2 lines on your system unless you have the ISDN 2 B-Channel Transfer enabled on your system and then doing the forwarding, as done previously, is your best option.

Thanks,

TE

Sounds easy enough....

Should I worry about the default phantom number the system assigns?  I don't have any so it starts at 1000, but our real exts start at 1100.  My old job had Cisco and our phantoms were all 3-digits.

Dan231,

No the system will assign the first available extension starting with 1000 by default so their will be no problems with what it picks unless you just don't like that number.

Not working.
I have a phantom ext: 1000
I created a user.

Under Assoc Ext:
Desk = Not Active
Mobile = Active with the number I want to call
Voice Mail = not active

I have added the DID with the phantom ext of 1000

I have tried the mobile number with a 1, with a 81 and just plain.  It rings and rings.
Do I have to do anything with Dynamic Extensions

I logged into the webGUI for this user and set a fwd all calls.  And that works....Based on this thread, this might not be the best setup?

Dan231,

It not a bad solution and the issue with the DEE is that your system may not be licensed for it or it is not turned on. Like I posted earlier if the supports ISDN 2 B-Channel transfer then it wouldn't take up lines on your T-1 after forwarding it out.

If you are not using the DEE then you may want to delete the User portion of the programming since you the forwarding to work. More than likely though the DEE is not licensed or the Outgoing Extension of the Phantom is not set to 92000, which is most likely the best guess.

Thanks,

TE

So just delete the user, but keep the extension live?
How do I log into the user webGUI to set the fwd then?

Dan231,

Once the user is deleted you wouldn't be able to use the web interface, but you already have it done right? It doesn't hurt to keep it either so you don't have to delete it.

Thanks,

TE
