Secure MCD and Nupoint backups
« on: February 17, 2014, 11:31:42 AM »
We are moving away and upgrading our old LX and nupoint systems to a virtual MCD infrastructure.

We normally point to ftp server for backups - can someone confirm if this is secure ftp ?

If you're NuPoint is a part of MAS, and you are backing up the MAS, then its SFTP. If you're still doing the backup in NuPoint (so only NuPoint backs up) then thats still regular FTP.

MCD is still regular FTP.

Thanks mate for your reply.

So ftp is not ideal for obvious reasons - what options do we have ? how have others got round the security aspects of this for MCD version 6.0 SP1 which i what we are going too very soon.

We usually have the customer setup an FTP server (either via IIS or FileZilla) locally, and then have the systems backup to that. Still have security issues but atleast their only on the lan. Then we remote in once a month to get one of those backups.
