We've just had the firmware on our Mitel 5000 HX updated to CP v6.0.9.61. We've had a couple of issues, like for instance our SpectraLink 8440's weren't authenticating until we changed a few settings and whenever I launch DB Programming, I see a message "Detected unknown extension 92000...".
Now our reseller tells us that there's a service pack available that should fix both of these issues.
Where can I look online to find out what service packs are available and just as importantly, documentation showing what they've changed/fixed. I'm a little surprised that when they updated the firmware that they didn't use the latest available update... or are Mitel's updates like Microsoft updates... it's better to be behind a version?
Unfortunately, there is no place you as a user can see versions, release notes, etc. These are only available to dealers and sponsored end users (which are few and far between, typically larger companies with multiple systems). The best you can do is ask here, unfortunately there is no sticky thread with this type of information.
Most of the "updates" you are looking at now are engineering builds, not public releases... public releases are quarterly-annually, and bug fixes are as needed on the engineering site, with the "current" public release of 6.0 being from June of 2013.
My upgrade philosophy with phone systems is different than other things... never update just to be on the latest version, update on a regular annual schedule unless something is broken or a specific feature is needed, and never use the latest version unless it has been out for at least a month.
