5330 will not boot past Logo Screen
« on: December 14, 2013, 09:24:32 AM »
After resolving a network interference problem between our five 3300 nodes (bandwidth between primary node and all others was temporarily restricted causing the 3300 nodes to disconnect), all the 5330 sets in the primary office will not boot past the main screen. All 5312 sets in primary node operate normally. Call connections between all nodes is normal and between the CO is normal. Re-boot of the 5330 sets does not resolve the problem. Re-boot of the 3300 node in primary office does not resolve the problem.

All Nodes have a local connections to their CO
All Nodes have a VLAN connection between each node so any user on any node can 4 digit dial any other user on any node

Up until this time, operation has been excellent. Setup has  been in place for over 1 year.

Anyone seen this condition before?

Are the phones in the same subnet as the controllers?

One simple trick to try:
Boot a phone while holding the 9 key.
When it ask if you want to enter Teleworker mode press Yes.
Put in the IP address of the controller the phone should be registered to.

Let us know what happens.

Using 7 you need to put in all the other details such as phone IP, VLAN, ICP, TFTP server, etc.
Using 9 you put it in TW mode as if you were using a TW server.   It short cuts all the other stuff.

Now, having said that, I've also seen this happen when the network interface to the customers DHCP server was set to "Trunking" mode.
The DHCP server would send the IP info that told the phone to switch to the voice vlan and request a new one.
When the phone switched vlans and sent out the second DHCP request, both the customers DHCP server AND the 3300 sent out IP addresses.
The 1st one to get to the phone wins.   That was always the DHCP server since it was faster than the 3300.
This caused a boot failure.

7 is what I use for teleworker. Just the ICP address needed and takes standard DHCP options for the rest.

Ralph, are you sure it's 9. (I'm not doubting you :) )
