Headset Operation
« on: August 06, 2009, 04:50:15 PM »
Hi

I've been asked to setup a Plantronics headset for a user with a 5215 handset (has a dedicated headset port).

I configured a 'Headset' button on their phone and have plugged the headset into the jack but when I put the phone into 'Headset' mode (using the configured button), I still can't get the heaset to work.

Is this all I need to do on the configuration side?  If so, then I guess I need to start looking at the hardware (i.e. headset or handset).

Cheers

Greg

If you have set everything up ok, then it is hardware.

With Mitel phones unfortunately you just cannot any Plantronics headset, when you purchase the headset you have to request one that is compatible with Mitel phones, otherwise, they will not work.

Is it a cordless or normal headset?

I had never heard that you needed a special headset to work with a Mitel set!

Can anyone elaborate on this?

We use several Plantronics CS60 Cordless DECT headsets on the 5324. They work perfectly.

There is a compatabilty checker on the plantronics webise. I have had it before where the headsets have required a replacement cable that connects from the phone to the quick release of the headset (I think these are known as U10P cables)

There is a possibility that the issue is with my configuration rather than the headset itself.  Is all I need to do on the configuration side simply configure a 'headset' button on the handset or is there something more I need to do?
