Callers cannot pick up a call on hold via trunk key.
« on: October 24, 2013, 11:16:16 AM »
This is an odd one.

The customer has 8 lines. They are not interested in parking calls, they simply wanted to be able to put a call on hold, then page "so and so, you have a call on line 3,) then the person could press the appropriate line key and pick up the call.

What is happening, right now is if the receptionist puts a call on hold, other callers can pick it up by pressing the appropriate line key. However, if anyone else puts a call on hold, when someone else tries to pick it up via the trunk key, they get "Main Lines Busy" (Main Lines is the name of the CO Trunk Group).

I have gone into the appropriate trunk groups and added the list for all extension to Answer Access. If there is something else I am missing, please let me know.

Double check your keymaps. Make sure your hold keys are System Hold, not Individual Hold.

Just wanted to offer a suggestion.. have you trained your client on the Transfer-to-Hold (TTH) feature? It is one of the most under-utilized features [on the 5000] sthat really helps eliminates folks picking up the WRONG lines by having everyone's keys set for System Hold.

Teach them to use TTH feature to transfer call to the extension of whom the call is for. Then they only have to say "Joe you have a call holding" instead of "Joe, you have a call on line x". The user simply dials 4 plus their own ext number and they have the call. Everyone can subsequently have their hold keys set back to INDIVIDUAL and never have to worry about someone else picking up THEIR line/call by accident.
