Ethernet Failure on Mitel SX2000
« on: October 01, 2013, 10:29:16 AM »
Have a 2000 Lightmicro that has lost ethernet connectivity. If we reboot the box, the connectivity will come back for 1-2 hours, but then it dies again. We've verified that the networking side of it is fine, and if we plug a laptop into the same switch port, it doesn't fail.

What should be our next step in this?

Well if it's not failing because of a duplicate IP then I would think the next step is to replace the card.

Thats what I was afraid you'd say.

I'm not a 2k guy (before my time really), so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Since we're talking about replacing the control card, what does that mean for licensing and the db?

The sys ID is a small daughter board on the card.  You'll need to move that to the new card.
I don't remember if the IP settings were maintained on the card on on the HD so I'm not sure if you'll have to re-IP the system.

Isn't the SysID on the CRC card on the 2K (been a while since I've seen one)? In which case, you just need to swap the MC3E and use the IP SHOW, IP COMMIT, etc. commands to set the IP on the new card.

I just went a pulled both a CRC and a MC3E from sold old 2k cabinets that we've replaced over the years, and it does look like the sysID is on the CRC. So then this makes everything even easier.

Been a while for me too.  Thanks for the input.  Glad it was sorted.

Just as an update, replacing the MC3E fixed the problem. Also as an FYI, the network info was stored on the card, so just had to re-ip the thing.

Thanks for you help.
