Some incoming external calls have no sound

First post here.  So forgive me if I don’t have enough information.

I have about five or six people reporting that some incoming calls have no sound when they pick up the handset.  The call is stays active until one of the two parties hangs up.  Two of the users say it happens anytime they get a call from someone using a cell phone.

I have not found anything in the software or maintenance logs.  The server does a monthly reboot, which was a week after this started.

Are these phones on the same subnet as the other phones that don't have the issue? Can you give us an overview of how the call gets to the phone? Is this a stand alone site or cluster?

Good luck getting a carrier to fix that one in a hurry.

You could test this by making sure your trunk group was set to circular and making calls out, making sure you hit all of the channels. You would need to do this when you are the only one making calls.

I assume you have a PRI. Do you only have one circuit?

It often helps to mention the software load that you are running. In this case when its a trunk issue it would also help to know what trunks you are using SIP? PRI? or analog. If it is only cell phone users are they all with the same carrier? It could be a bad trunk, bad channel on your PRI ( if thats what you have ) bad channel at the central office. If they are all from one carrier might be in the cell connections to the PSTN.
