Block an incomming telephone number
« on: September 10, 2013, 02:17:36 PM »
I have very little expirence using Mitel systems.
I have the Mitel Communications Director, Mitel Applications Suite 3.0.

I've been asked to block an incomming telephone number.

How can I do this?

Thank you.

I see this question here a lot.
In general: ain't gonna happen.
If you have a NuPoint (then maybe) or an Esna auto auto attendant then it could be done but only if you route all incoming calls through it.

ralph,

We do have NuPoint; how would this be done if calls are already routed through it?

I'll have to refer you to the NuPoint techs however I may have mis-spoke.   I know for sure this can be done with the Esna VM (6510) but I guess I can't remember seeing it done with the NuPoint.  Hopefully someone will jump in here.

In any case, the call has to be front ended via auto attendant.

Also, thinking about it, UCA may be able to do this also.

NuPoint can do it. You have to send the call to a Call Director box, then apply a Caller-ID filter to the CD call flow, add the number you wish to block to the list, and set the destination action for "Listed" to hangup.

Does the Caller-ID-Filter only works for Call Director mailbox?
Does it  work for user mailbox?

Has to be a call director box, but you can set the CD callflow to only check for the caller-ID and if the call passes, they go to leave a message.

On the MCD how do I send the incoming caller id to the call director.

I am very familiar with both the MiVB and MiCollab but I am trying to picture where do I add the filter on the MiVB? then I guess to a single line to the call director box.

Where do I tell the MiVb to reroute the incoming DNIS?

Thanks for your help

Now that everything is going to SIP, the answer is: do it on your MBG, super-easy.

Sending it through to NuPoint is just CFA or call re-routing.

Or even easier, MiVB 9.0 supports Caller Based Routing

Description:
Caller Based Routing allows the routing of incoming Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) calls from specific callers based on the Calling Line Identification (CLI), also known as Caller ID. The incoming call can be mapped as a Whitelist or Blacklist call depending on the configuration of Call Service Routing Type for the Caller ID in the Caller Based Routing Service form.
