Mitel 5000 clustering

Hi,

I'm looking for some pointers for my first 5000 instal. Basically there will be a cluster of 3 HX Controllers - HX v5.1 SP3- with digital phones - no ip phones at this time because of budget limitations. The organization network is via an MPLS so ideally the controllers will be on the same network. What's the easiest way to get the nodes talking with this kind of connection?

Make sure each 5000 is a different node number.
Make sure all the Processor Module P6xxx numbers are unique.
Run the Networking Wizard and you should be good to go!

So as long as the controllers can "see" each other, the networking wizard will handle the rest, right?

Another question, is the database propagated to the other controllers - for example, if I create an extension in Node A, will this extension come up in Node B and Node C as well? I believe the 3300 does this using SDS.

All 3 sites have phone numbers coming in - we hope to be able to call forward a number to any extension on the "cluster". Possible??

The Networking Wizard is where you enter the IP address, node numbers etc of the other sites.

At first you need to import and export the data from site to site, as long as this import/export works you know you have a good data link between the systems.

This is under Operations then Export/Import Devices.

Make sure your Extn numbers, Hunt Group numbers, CRAs etc don't clash from Node to Node.

The 5000 does broadcast changes between the systems but i've no idea if this happens immediately or periodically in the middle of the night etc.

Once the initial import/export is done and the systems are talking, any new devices are automatically populated off-node.

Speaking from experience, the first thing you need to do is determine a good numbering plan, with plenty of room for growth. With only 3 nodes, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Also be sure if your going to do any kind of call reporting that the trunk numbers on each node are unique.
