help (Mitel 5000 vs NEC Univerge)

I am looking at a new phone system and been recommended the mitel 5000 and the nec univerge sv8100

could somebody give me some advice on what mitel have above nec and any common problems that occur please

Hello, I am more than happy to provide you with any information regarding those two platforms as we carry both lines so I feel I have a pretty good idea where their strengths and weaknesses lie.

Can you give me an idea for your deployment?
 - Single site or multiple
 - IP or Digit
 - trunk type (analog, PRI, SIP)
 - What UC applications are you looking for?

hi i am getting rid of the old and all new looking at ip handsets and 27 end points
we are on a 20 year old system and any thing extra is a bonus
i have isdn 30 lines with 21 channels

Mitel Pros:
 - more options for IP sets (assuming you don't go SIP); we really like the 5320 as a nice entry level self labeling option
 - better mobility options (IMO DEE works better and has more functionality then NEC's twinning)
 - UCA is a cleaner desktop client and the mobile apps is a year or two ahead of NEC's

Out of the box I think you will find more value in the 5000;

If you look at adding blades to the NEC or MAS to the 5000 I think you can get the two system pretty comparable but I would give Mitel a major edge with the options to go to vMAS on VMware.

NEC does tend to hit every traditional telephony mark on the head where sometime Mitel seems to forget about the old and are too focused on the new but in the end we lead with 5000 because it offers more value than the 8100
