One extension all phones
evan631:
My company would like to have 1 extension in each office put on all phones. Basically the way it will work...our TeleMarketing agent will transfer a call to the branch number which would then ring on all phones in the office. First to answer it gets the lead call.
First...do you see any problems with doing this? Other than a lot of phones ringing.
Secondly, could you walk me through setting this up on all phones. I know there is a way to put this line on all phone in a batch process, but can't remember how.
THanks for the help!

There are two ways I can think of to do this.
One is a multicall on all the phones but you can only have 32 appearances of that number in the system
the second is to do a ring group with all the phones you want to ring.
evan631:
Only 32 appearance for a multicall will not be good. Eventually we will have more that 32 users needing this number.
I will try and work with the ring group and see how that works out. Anything i need to know about a ring group?
Mattmayn:
What rel. software are you running?
I think that ring groups were introduced in rel 8.0.5.12.
Other than making sure that your software is capable of ring groups, you program a pilot number to the group and add the extensions that you wish to ring. Then dial the pilot number and they all ring (if you did not choose cascade ring).

Per the Help Files, the max members of a ring group is 32. Doesn't look like that will help you much.
You may need to ring it to an overhead bell so that anyone can "pick" it.
You could do your max of 32 appearances of a key or ring group AND an overhead bell.
