Hi All,

I ended up restoring an old backup with MCD 4.0 and progressively upgraded to MCD 5.0. It was a painful experience though. Lesson learnt - ALWAYS have a backup and NEVER rely on the SI tool to do the backup for you. Don't get me wrong though, the SI tool is great, its just when something goes wrong, its abit tricky to recover. Thanks guys.

Steve

Glad it worked out. Keep in mind the SI tool does do a backup to your laptop so as long as it is past that stage in the SI tool you could recover it.

The software installer does the data save to your laptop so you should still have the datasave if the tool got that far before going pear shaped.

Depends if an "online" or "offline" upgrade was selected doesn't it?

Thinks its more if you selected to do a backup or not.
