mitel 5330 SIP
« on: May 21, 2013, 07:54:58 PM »
Hello,

I need to convert a mitel 5330 into a SIP. I've managed to do it but I can't figure out how can I put the settings (user name, password, SIP domain, proxy) in ?! When I try to browse to the phone, all I get is a webpage where I can choose the language and put the IP address of the TFTP server. The FW on the phone is R8.0.05.01.00.16.

Thanks a lot in advance.

It sounds like you need to flash the SIP language file to the phone, the phone needs to TFTP the SIP language file before you can get to the login page... Browse through this thread: http://mitelforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,2800.0.html and it might give you some insight.

BTW, I put a lot of effort into trying to get this to work... too much effort to get everything to work on our SIP platform, gave up and went back to good, old Polycom stuff.

I'll have a look there. I've got the language file from mitel website and also a TFPT server, so I'll give it a go. Cheers

Finally sorted!
The latest release + language files are not available to the public, only to mitel engineers employees.
Easiest way: plug the phone into a MCD 6.0 SP1, the phone will download the latest firmware, then factory default the phone and should be able to browse into it.

Are you saying that the SIP firmware is in the 3300??? If so, then it should be easy to browse the file system and pull the files needed for this. I just tried it on my 6.0 (non-SP1) system and it didn't work... Heading for ebiz site now.  :D

EDIT: Upgraded my test bench system to 6.0SP1, but still can't web to phones. Did you put the phone into SIP mode first, or upgrade the phone in MiNET mode then switch to SIP mode and browse to the phone?
