Block inbound Skype numbers to DID

One of our locations has been getting Skype calls asking them to do malware scans. Its not a huge deal, but apparently there is a way to block numbers that come in? Is this true?

Yes, you can block inbound calls based on Caller ID.

Assign a Call Routing Table to route calls based on Outside Party Number instead of Trunk Number. Build a table that includes the numbers you want to block, and then send them to a CRA that drops the call.

Point the + and E destinations to your normal Call Routing Table, then point your trunk group to the new Call Routing Table.

Incoming calls matching the blocked digits will be dropped, all other calls will route as normal.

Can you dumb that down slightly for me? We only have one call routing table, and its all trunks.

I can make a new table, but the rest of it is new to me. Dont want to screw something up.

Essentially you are going to nest two Call Routing Tables...

You will run inbound calls to to an Outside Calling Number table first, in that table you will include the Caller ID's you wish to exclude (block) and send them to a Call Routing Announcement with no greetings or digit translations, just a timeout to disconnect, then at the end of the Outside Calling Number table you put entries for "E" and "+" which mean any other digits or no digits and set the destination of those entries to the trunk group's original Call Routing Table. Then the last step to activate everything is to go to the Trunk Group and change the Ring In destination from the current CRT to the new CRT you made and the selected calls should be blocked and everything else will flow through like normal.
