Speaker Phone Issue 8528
« on: January 13, 2013, 01:56:14 PM »
Recently replaced an NEC8100 with a Mitel 5000 using digital 8528 phones.

A hand full of them are getting very poor voice quality when using the speaker phone.  It is perfectly fine when using the handset but a ton of static and weak volume whenever they use speaker phone.  I have tried replacing the phone and it didn't help and the phone I swapped out works fine on our demo system.

I should also mention that I checked the phone right at the phone system with the idea of eliminating the wiring and still the bad speaker phone.

Any ideas?

You could try the station audio settings found in On-Line Monitor. There are several, including speaker phone.

We installed a 5000 system with 8528 phones in December. All of them have the same problem. Sound is VERY bad using speaker phone and some users are complaining about cross talk (they can hear DTMFs or smalls bits of conversations on their idle speaker phone from analog phones!!). Cabling in this building is not quite new (60-70's) so it could be a part of the problem.

We replaced some phones with 8528 received in 2010-2011 and everything is OK! We'll try to replace all of them.
