Assertion Error, Phones Bricking
« on: January 02, 2013, 07:27:04 PM »
Hi all,

We are using a Mitel 5000 running 5.1.0.42, a new site we've opened (small, ~10 users) is connecting over a site to site tunnel back to the PBX.

Upon plugging phones in, we saw this error on multiple phones. Of course, as soon as we realized this was happening we removed all phones from the network. Attempting to boot, the phone pulls checksum errors and skips the firmware upgrade. After booting into the existing image on the device, we saw the attached error. Once this error occurs, the phone powers up to a blank screen and all LED keys remain lit. These symptoms seem to last indefinitely.

Has anyone experienced this issue before?

No, but I believe there was some bad phones shipped recently, I remember seeing a little bit of discussion on it here and there. I would contact tech support or your inside sales rep and see if you can get replacements.

Good to know! Thanks Ace! I have a request for replacements in and I will update this post for continuity when I have confirmed we are working.

Thanks again!
