Analog lines sounding 'Fuzzy' on Mitel 3300
« on: October 09, 2012, 03:54:49 PM »
I've got a new system, been up ~1 month.
A complaint since the beginning is that analog calls sometimes get static or sound fuzzy.
Not every call but enough to be an issue.
Not just across trunks but on-net calls to IP sets also.  (Only one complaint of this)

PRI's come into a gatway system - same system analog lines are.
IP phones are on vMCD but we don't have complaints from them on this.

Anyone else seen this?

vMCD v5.0 SP2 PR1
Gateway MXe  v5.0 SP2 PR1
~100 analog phone on ASU II cards

Can't say that I've seen it, but can probably test.
Just wanted to confirm if it is analogue trunks, or handsets that are the issue? From the description it is the handsets.

Is analogue to analogue on the ASU ok? Only issues once it goes across the IP trunk or out via the PRI?

PRI trunks.

I did some more testing with the customer - not sure if related or not - but when I talk to him on his 5330 phone,
I hear a hiss just after I stop speaking for ~2 seconds.   Same thing when he speaks.

I've had this same complaint.  I had a group that shared an analog phone and they complained that people they talked to couldn't hear them.  I spent a number of hours trying to troubleshoot the issue but could never figure out the problem.  I ended up just putting a 5330 in their area and moving on.  I am interested to see that someone else is seeing the same thing and would will be following this link to see if anyone has any thoughts on what causes a this problem.

Have you ran the LS Line Quality Measurement Test and set balance and trunk category accordingly? Typically when I have issues where LS trunks sound good ahead of the system then have audio issues inside the system, this is the issue.

Using PRIs.

I ran several test with my IT contact.   Couldn't dupe it.

Oops... that is what I get for skimming and not reading the whole thing, saw analog and noise and just assumed I had the answer. My bad.
