Possible to dial in and perform overhead page?
« on: June 19, 2012, 02:31:37 PM »
We have a question wondering if it's possible to dial in from the outside to a separate DID and initiate an overhead page (with the desire to enter an account/security code beforehand). This is for burglar alarm notification purposes. Can this be done with the 3300?

I have never tried this before. What if you used a SIP speaker, horn or whatever and assigned a DID to it? I know our Valcom rep swears that their SIP products act just like phones and you can even traditional horns/speakers connect to them.

If you have an existing page, meaning you can simulate what you want to do from an internal extension, then the answer is yes.
I've had a bit of fun with this years and years ago.

Set up an independent account code at least 8 digits long.
Create a DISA DID number that requires an account code.

Dial the DID, wait for dial tone, enter account code + '#' and then your access code for your page system.

Remember, DISA is a security hole.  Use it with caution.
