MiNET to SIP conversion 5330 (Mitel SIP Phone)
godfather007:
Hi there,
newbie here.
Looking for an answer how to convert 5330 unit from MiNET to SIP protocol.
Just bought a bunch of units for the overseas family of my wife to connect to an elastix VM.
5 of them are 5212 (which can be converted when pressing *7 during boot).
Just the one more "luxurous" model 5330 is giving me headache. Under "phone-mode" i can only select MiNET or teleworker.
I just hope there's a way to upgrade to the SIP-firmware (where is that one located anyway??/found an external link for 5112).
I was stupid to select this fancy one, maybe i can return it it was only 30€.
Thanks in advance.

If you boot the phone up normally, and then hold down the up and down key, release the down key, and whilst still holding the up key press 234.
This will take you in to the phone config mode. Press # until you get to phone mode, then press *, press * for protocol, and then * to change. It will then ask you to reboot.
Once rebooted you need to grab a web browser and go to the ip address of the phone. login will be admin/5330.
From there you can put the registration details of the elastix box in.

Geez thanks Martyn!
I hope this will fix the issue, i gave up hope already. I'll try at home and post it here.

Hi,
back again. Unfortunately i cannot select SIP when i arrive to that menu-option (phone-mode).
I'm only able to select "teleworker" and then i have to select the teleworker gateway and reboot.
Even though i found that option before, i tried it this morning again and the machine did not find an tftp-server thus rebooted.
Could it be that the gateway-ip is in fact a TFTP server with a possible SIP firmware available for download?
Or should i give up and accept the fact that this device is not SIP capable? I've read about dual-mode devices.

And.... back again..
so far no luck... followed a guide : http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Mitel+MiNET+to+SIP+Conversion
But it's simply not working for this one 5330... my other phones 5212 are up2date with the following package http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Mitel+SIP+Firmware
I can see that the unit 5330 is stuck at 01.01.00.09 version and is trying to find <L2Boot_5340.bin> <BootIp5340.bin> & <MinetIp5340.bin> which i don't have.
MitelOnLine needs annual fee of 250$ .... sad story...
