3300 cannot call out but can receive calls
« on: November 02, 2011, 12:10:53 PM »
Hi,

I'm having issues with our 3300 system affecting all phones. Dial a 9 before the number get to at least 4 digits it then comes back with 'Busy' on handset. I can probably get a call through once every 30mins or so other times i get halfway through the number and it returns 'busy' Internal calls are all fine and can receive all calls externally without a problem.
Mitel engineer has visited site and is pretty sure the problem lies with BT at there exchange. I had already raised a call with BT who checked the line and said they couldnt see an issue there side?
Nothing has been modified on the phone system, engineer reports no errors in the log and system behaving as it should. I've been back on to BT to do another check and they will get back to me. Has anyone any idea what is causing this?
An example log of a failed call below -

What kind of trunks are these? POTS, PRI, ?

POTS or PRI, you could try an "Individual Trunk Access" feature code, and try calling out directly.

You say that you get halfway through a number and it returns "Busy," is that on the display or the tones that your referring to?
This sounds like an ARS conflict error.

Hi thanks for the quick response.

It is PRI trunks

Also the engineer was dialling i believe the individual trunk access plus a trunk number and then a phone number and was getting through every now and then (believe it was something like *200)

Yes get halfway through dialing the number and get both the busy tone and busy notification on the handset which is a Mitel 5312 handset.

Look forward to hearing from you

Ok, lets try this. Go into Maintence Commands...

Run the following:
Dgt Trace 9XXXXXXX

Try putting in the number that bombs halfway through, exactly as you dial it. I'm interested to see what its response is.

Also, do you have a NSU or internal T1 card?

Ok ran the below - obviously blanked out full number!

DGT Trace started:
9017******** : ARS 901 +  9, Route (3)
DGT Trace completed.

It is every number you try to call externally not number specific.

It is on a ISDN 30 setup, sorry i can't be more clearer but def not T1.

Hope this helps!

I guess I don't know anything about a ISDN 30 setup.

Hopefully someone who's familiar with a setup like that can help you.

Normally in a CO or PRI or T1, we don't outpulse the digits until they all have been entered. So my thinking was that it was having a conflict as you tried to dial a phone number. Maybe a ISDN 30 outpulses live?

Hi Thanks very much for what you have mentioned so far.

The engineer that visited said that the first 4 digits are sent then 1 by 1 after that?  It is always at least 4 digits before it errored including the 9 for outside line. Not sure if this is true but what was told!

CRM/CIM 7 means Congestion. Are you sure that all 30 trunks are in the Trunk Group? An other thing to try is to use the command: EDT TR TSP L2L3 xx xx xx xx
This will show ISDN communication between the 3300 and the Provider. If you send a setup message they can refuse.
