Mitel SX2000 Partition
« on: November 07, 2011, 08:39:14 AM »
I can't remember the answer to this:

When you partition a redundant 2k does it force you to put the inactive plane in read only mode?

Here's the reason I'm asking.   One of my PM has a major MAC and needs to pre-program a system before moving it to a new location.   The system has to remain up and operational while making the changes.   So the thought is to partition it and make all the changes on the inactive plane then switch to it during the move.   This can't be done if we have to put the inactive plane in read only mode.

Just remembered thanks to a lunch time nap.

You can program off line.
What I was remembering about the 'read only' has to do with doing a disk to disk copy.

This shouldn't be a problem.

You're right.

This is why you can upgrade the inactive side and have two different partition.

I cut my teeth on the 2k way back in '86.  It's amazing how much you can forget so quickly.
Maybe that just suggest I'm old.

I'm with you on that one!
I started the 2k in "E" stream.  - no menus at all.
When the 3300 1st came out I still did everything from the telnet session.
I kept getting yelled at by Mitel tech support.   There never was a time when I did something is telnet that messed up the system.
