Voice Mail Getting Cut Off
« on: June 14, 2011, 10:05:43 AM »
On our 3300 system version 4.1 None DID extension, when people try and leave voicemails sometimes they get "message was to short" then they get cut off, this appears to be hit or mis.

Thanks

What version of VM?   Embedded?  NuPoint?  6510?

Do you know if these are IP calls or not?

No there outside callers. When the customer goes to voice mail it's not the same PBX as this extension as all of our voice mail resides in one location. I've looked at the logs between the two sites and I haven't found packets dropping or anything that would give me more insight as why this happens.

Here's my guess as to what is going on:
The VM is not hearing your audio.
You can dupe internally by calling your a phone that's forwards to VM on your speaker phone.  Mute the MIC.
You'll hear "recording has stopped.  Message too short.  It has been discarded".

So I suspect there is a network issue.  - The normal cause of one way audio.
Check all your default gateways and routing.

It could be a E2T problem if there are IP trunks involved. Just throwing random ideas out there.
