We have a 3300 system and switch hosted Exchange service the new service requires authenticated SMTP.
The 3300 doesn't have a field to put in a password.

So Voice Mails that get left do not get forwarded as attachements.

I have tried to find a work around for instance using Gmail or hotmail but these days everyone has locked down there email servers to cut down on spam.

Does anyone have a work around?

Thank you,

Andrew

I don't know about hosted Exchange, but I suspect that the exchange server will have to allow emails from your IP.

We were struggling with something similar with a Nupoint and gmail.
What we figured out was we could send the emails to a mailbox I created on one of my domains and then forward it from there.
I hear Mitel is going to fix that in an upcoming release so we wouldn't have to do that.  But I'd lay odds that the embedded vm would work the same way..

Yes you will need a mail relay enabled server that does not require authentication. Never noticed that there is not a password option.

So here's a thought.
How hard or quickly could a Linux server be set up as an open relay that would only exist on the internal network?

You could use any linux server to relay with a basic install. You also may be able to use the smtp server of your Internet provider.
