Flashing a 6940 back to MINET

(1/3) > >>

BBAMike:
Hi,

I've acquired some 6940 phones which appear to have been flashed with SIP firmware. I need to re-flash in order to use them on my MiVoice Business 3300 running release 8.0. From what I've read, I need to flash with MINET_6940-enc.st which is present on the TFTP server on my PBX.

I'm able to get into the web gui of the phone. There is a menu option called Firmware Update. When I specify MINET_6940-enc.st it returns a message saying "Unable to upgrade firmware." I've tried moving the file to a web server and using that as the source, but I get the same error.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

you need to export the firmware from Ipbx and put into a tftp server on your computer .

BBAMike:
Appreciate the response. Unfortunately, no joy. I've put the file on an HTTP server and a TFTP server, but when I click the Download Firmware button, it responds with the "Unable to upgrade firmware" response almost instantly. I was able to monitor the Open TFTP server on my laptop, and it did show that there was some sort of communication with the 6940, because it showed the IP address of the phone and the word "Timeout". It almost feels like the capability to download firmware has been disabled somehow. I hope that's not the case.

sunspark:
Can you share screenshot of the error, also your tftp server?

BBAMike:
Sure.
