Possibilities for call forwarding by reception
« on: December 14, 2023, 05:48:26 AM »
Our Reception is using a MiVoice 5380 phone and MiVoice 1560 software. They only use the software once a week to change the on-call number to the specific person for this week.

Provider want quite a lot of money to move OIP server from Win7 CPU2 to Windows Server (1500 USD new license needed and labour) so my target is to get rid of MiVoice 1560 and OIP (only used for MiVoice) and find another possibility to forward the number.

First I thought about Office 400 web interface but I would need to give reception full user admin access, there is a reception role... but for sure a license error message if you choose the option. Classic Mitel;-)

What other possibilities do I have to forward other users number? Some code on the MiVoice 5380 like *21 are only for your own number as far as I know.

It all depends how the calls are routed but if you are just wanting to call forward a specific extension there are two features I would investigate.

Ensure permissions are set correctly first.

Remote control (Activate/deactivate function via third-party phone)
*06 <Destination No.> <Function>

or

Making a call on a third-party phone
#36 <Destination No.> <PIN>

After the PIN you should be able to dial *21 feature codes as usual.

Thanks, the second possibility was perfect I put the couple numbers directly on the MiVoice 5380 functions buttons works like a charm. Wasn't aware of the whole #36 function...

Yes, I find it very useful for recording greetings for Auto Attendants etc...

Make a call to VM as the AA extension to login and change greetings.

You could also consider using SSP/Self-Service Portal for the target extension.
