Cross Talk - Cross Connect_ Not Sure
« on: October 24, 2008, 08:17:31 AM »
We have three 3300's  Two at Remote Clinics.  What is happenig is that on occasion when someone from our main hospital dials ext 4001 it will ring a few times and suddenly they may be connected to anothers cell phone or the residences of a patient who happens to be trying to call the clinic at the same time.

Our provider feels this is an AT&T problem, At&T of course says the opposite.  Provider has replaced the cable from AT&T box to the 3300 so we are fairly certian that we have good copper.  AT&T has checked all of their Copper from the CO to the D-Mark abd says it is good.

I throw this out to all for help, Any Ideas guys??

thanks
Mike

This sounds like classic "call Collisions".   A collision is when an outbound call hits a loop start CO line at the same time a call is ringing in on it.   Doesn't happen with ground start lines or Digital lines.

You didn't say what type of phone x4001 is or how you are networked.

But for this to be a collision, ext 4001 would have to be forwared off prem.  Check that.   Then be sure to program your outbound trunk groups to dial on from the highest number first to reduce the chances of collision.

X4001 is a mitel IP Phone

Please explain " ext 4001 would have to be forwared off prem. "  I am not an expert in the phone world, Know enough to get by most of the time.
Also How to program outbound trunk groups to dial on the highest number.

That means a call would come ring the phone and then forward back out another CO line.

Find the trunk group that the trunks are assigned in.  Then be sure the group is programmed to hunt "Terminal".  Then program the trunks in the hunt group to hunt Highest number to lowest number.

When adding the trunks to the trunk group I was glad to learn that it does support "reverse range programming" - just use -1 as the increment and put the highest trunk first!
