No Audio after a few minutes
« on: February 25, 2021, 12:10:48 AM »
Hi,

So trying to get the teleworker phone working and forwarded the ports below. We are able to make calls, Receive calls, add phones. call remote nodes.
but the audio doesn't work right. When we boot up the phone it works for a few minutes then no audio. We hear dial tone but can't hear other person. When we call the auto attendant as well there is no audio. Rebooting the phone fixes it for a few minutes.

We worked with Sonicwall and ran packet monitor and did not see any dropped packets so we are kinda at a loss as to what to try next.

We have the phone setup as NAT for the Address Type, We have the Public IP in the IP settings and the IP Connections. Any thoughts on this behavior?

3998-3999 TCP
4000 and 44000 TCP (If you want to administer the system remotely)
5004-5007 UDP Range
5060 UDP (Not needed for IP endpoints but sometimes needed for SIP Trunks)
5566 TCP
5567 UDP
5570 TCP
6004-7039 UDP Range
6800-6802 TCP Range
20001 UDP
50098-50508 UDP Range

longvl85,

Did you make sure you change the phone from Native to NAT? Look at System > Devices and Feature Codes > Phones > Ext XXXX > IP Settings > NAt Address Type: Make sure this is set to NAT.

Do you have a Processor Expansion Card on your MiVO-250? Look at System > IP Settings: Look for Static Processor Expansion Module IP Address.

Did you setup your NAT IP in the MiVO-250? Look at System > IP Connections > P6000 > NAT IP Address: Change it from 255.255.255.255 to the Public IP Address you are using for the phone. Also if you have a Processor Expansion Module it will need its own Public IP Address and it would be setup on P6001.

Thanks,

TE

That is set to NAT

We do it currently set to the same IP as the "current processor module IP address" which is an internal address.

That is also

Under System>Dev and Feature Codes>IP Connection>Local>
P6011 - is set to WAN IP
P6022 Expansion Module is also set to same WAN IP.

longvl85,

It appears as though you found your problem; congrats. Now all you have to do is fix it and then test again.

If it isn't obvious as to what I am referring to it is this, "The PEC Private and Public IP Address can't be the same as the Processor Module".

Also, when you add the second Public IP Address make sure to configure the firewall for that to point to the Private IP Address of the PEC and not the Processor Module.

Thanks,

TE

Disable any IDS or similar rules in your firewall... This is purely a firewall issue, and 9 times out of 10 I find this is a Sonicwall.

Not here to bad mouth Sonicwall, but if we have network issue with VoIP, it just seems like a Sonicwall router is always involved.
