mass user edit
« on: July 15, 2015, 02:29:52 AM »
Hi all
trying to change the first and last names of about 200 devices that are currently assigned extensions.
When i tried uploading the CSV i get an error that says the directory number exists. Whilst this is true, I'm doing something wrong I guess. Is there a way to bulk edit fields?

If it is just the names being changed, then do this in the Telephone Directory using the CSV import for this form.

I'm not sure this will work.   I believe that when you import via CSV it is an add and not an edit.  So you'll end up with 2 user name and extension numbers for each device.

In this case I'm not sure it's going to be that easy.

importing via the address book worked, cheers!
on that note, as a quick side question/follow up

I'd like to mass change the 'secondary element' for all devices. any ideas?

to change the secondary element on all users this is what i do:

change the secondary element on one user manually
export all users from the Users and devices area
you will see that there is a secondary element column.  copy the information from the extension you manually changed to all other extensions
save the csv
import it

Hello guys, I know it's few down the road on this thread, but I'm facing the same challenge, as described at first in here, to edit in mass, a group of 1000 users, for their last names.
I see in here the last post said, to go the Address book and change it thru an import from a CSV, and for sure that would work for me too, but I don't find that function on the version I'm running 9.1.3 FP2
Any help on how to do this changes?
Thanks in advanced!
Gio
