Setup teleworker port forwarding
« on: September 10, 2020, 04:37:39 PM »
I am trying to setup 1 phone to work as a teleworker.
I have only ever done this with an existing setup or with the mitel 250.
We are using a 5320 phone. So I set that up the same way as I always have.

I inherited this system and they have 80 teleworker licenses in the MBG but none have ever been used.

What ports do I need to setup to make this work?

Or do I need to change the MBG to have a direct WAN IP?

The answer is yes... But you can't do it like a 250 because the 3300 doesn't support NAT at all.

The easiest way is to reconfigure the MBG into Server-Gateway mode and put a static, public IP on the second Ethernet interface... From there it's incredibly simple. We do 90% of all MBG's like this, even VMs.

Otherwise it needs to go in a (real) DMZ and a ton of ports need to be redirected to it on a 1:1 NAT basis... Download Teleworker Network Analyzer from your MBG (in the diagnostics tab) and run it to see what you need to open.

Alright
So now I have set the MBG to Server-Gateway mode and configured the static IP.
The IP is pingable.
My phone is not connecting. Still sitting on contacting server.

Any particular reason why it is not able to connect?

Put the phone in Teleworker mode and point it at the MBG's IP from outside the LAN (it often fails if you point to the TW Gateway from inside the same LAN). If you set up correctly, it should as you for the TW Password and then you enter the one you configured in the MBG. Assuming your MBG is setup correctly, it should just work.

Can the MBG see the phone system? You can get the message "CONTACTING SERVER" on the handset if the handset can see the MBG but the MBG can't see the phone system.
