Licensing a softphone
« on: March 09, 2020, 10:04:24 AM »
Hi All

Am having conflicting information around the CAT licensing & supplementary licenses.
We are wanting to use a Jabra softphone headset.
Ive been told that we will need CAT F licenses - which i agree
Also being told i will need a softphone license also, and other are telling me this wont be needed, so here is the cofusion.

I already hold phone manager liceses and have ordered CAT F license - does anyone have any knowledge on wether the 'softphone' license is also required from Mitel?

SM_user,

The CAT F license is for the MiVO-250; it is for SIP Devices.

The Softphone License would be for the Phone Manager Server if you don't already have the softphone licensing available to create the SIP Softphone.

If the SIP Softphone already exists on the Phone Manager then you won't need that or the CAT F license as it would already have one for the SIP Softphone to be able to work.

So, the logical thinking is that if you don't have the CAT F license then most likely you don't have the Phone Manager Softphone license either, but that isn't always the case.

Thanks,

TE
