Time Server on 200 ICP

I am wondering if there is a way to configure a time server on the 200. Seems that the time runs faster on the PBX than it does on the PC's, which means that I have to reset the time on the PBX occasionally.

  I've submitted DCR's to mitel for this on the 3300 - hopefully they listen for all platforms....

That's a good idea.   
We need to have everyone who can do a DCR for that featrue.

So if you have access to make that request please do so.  The more requesting it the better.

  Yeah, and now that they are moving to Linux based systems how hard can it be - the code is already out there.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed....

Is the 200ICP moving to MSL Linux?   Hadn't heard that.
Just got our hands on the 3300 version this week.  I know v2win ( a frequent poster here) is hacking his way through it now.

I would think there wouldn't be a problem connecting to a time server via MSL Linux.
Once things get going on it, we can check with www.Contribs.org  (where MSL came from) and I'm sure someone will have a FAQ on how to do it.

  Yeah, getting MSL synced would be easy - the question will be does the 3300 read the time from the host OS or maintain it itself....

I am working on a Call Director right now that has NTP running and it did set the time on the 3300 side so I think this is the way its heading.

This is one of the goofiest setups that Mitel has done in a while. For example its MSL running a virtual machine running 3300 software.

200 inside a Linux hypervisor? hmmm  =( Yes if you set the time on the host OS in this type of setup the guest hardware clock would be updated. Then any time the guest kernel made an explicit / implicit call to get or set time offsets the time would be syncd to the host which is sync'd via NTPd.

  That said, not having done a Call Director yet I didn't realize it was a VM on MSL?.  I assumed (we all know where that leads you) that they had ported the 3300 to Linux native.  As a VM, I would think it would only read the time from the host at boot - although with time shareing in VM's I'm not a 100% on that.  I would guess that it depends on how the virtualization layer handles the time.  I'll have to play with VMWare and XEN both so see what happens in that area.
