Keeping a spare 5000 on the shelf
« on: January 16, 2020, 02:30:16 PM »
We have 3 sites with Mitel 5000 HX of various firmware levels. We want to have a spare in case one fails due to hardware, environmental, etc. They are very cheap on eBay. Can I just unplug the old one and plug the new one in? I would imagine I can just swap all the cards from the bays and the CF over to the new unit? Will moving the compact flash move the programming and licensing? I am in the process of figuring out how to get Mitel certified so bear with me.

I have spare boxes setup at my core locations but the licensing does not follow so in the DR instance your PBX will restart every 4 hours I believe is the timer. For DR we have considered that acceptable while I get the hardware replaced or the license moved to the new box. Some of my locations have the PBX on and live just at a different IP and not connected to anything, this will save me a plane ticket and or very long and frustrating conversation with someone while talking them through flipping cards and cables.

Thank you
