Put 5330 keymap on 5320
« on: December 02, 2019, 06:41:12 PM »
Hello,

Is it possible to put a 5330 keymap on a 5320? I have mivoice office that has 2 5330 and 1 5320 phones and I want to make them all look the same. I have already created a new keymap folder and put all 3 phones into the same one that has both standard and alternative set to the 5330 keymap but my 5320 doesn't want to change. I am not sure what else is telling this phone to keep its original keymap. Or I am thinking it is not possible to have the 5320 use the 5330 keymap...but that just sounds silly

So i figured out I could just edit the 5320 keymap so it matches the layout of the 5330...Still seems silly that I can't just assign the 5330 keymap to the 5320 phone but oh well

Enobaham,

I am not sure what you would find silly about it as there is a reason they have multiple keymap types to begin with. Just because the devices look similar doesn't mean that they are the same.

The 5320 only has one page and the 5330 has 3 pages; how did you think that would work? You can absolutely assign a 5330 keymap to a 5320, but don't expect it to look the same or for that matter work the same. The top 3 keys on the 5320 don't have lights in them so you typically don't want to use keys that provide an indicator.

If you want the 5320 to have 2 pages then you have to create 2 separate 5320 keymaps and have one as the Standard Keymap and one as the Alternate Keymap; then put a key on their phone to move to the alternate keymap.

Thanks,

TE

Thanks for the reply. I didn't actually realize the top 3 buttons of the 5320 don't have lights. I did notice the amount of pages differed but we are only using 7 keys at the moment. That is also a good idea to add a button to change keymaps if needed. Thanks for the insight.

If you do that, make the Alternate Keymap button one of the unlighted buttons, and change the feature name to Next Page. Also, change the Alternate Transient Display Timer to minimum.

End-users will think that they're simply changing pages and won't know anything about Standard/Alternate keymaps.
