Mitel 53xx Series Phones - Question
« on: June 13, 2019, 12:41:07 PM »
Hello Fellow Mitel Techs,
I have a question on the 53xx series IP Phones. Apparently one of our Sales people had heard that if the 53xx IP Phone was configured with the proper hardware and if it failed that it could still route calls over an analog POTS line.

I have heard of an analog adapter that you can install on it so that analog devices could have connectivity through it. But never heard of a POTS line through a 53xx that it could use as a type of emergency outbound access.

Any info on this is appreciated.

Thanks,
-Iron

**UPDATE**
I think I found the answer. It's called a "Line Interface Module" for those that are curious. I'm reading up on it now.

Thanks,
-Iron

That is it... It's functionality is questionable though, make sure you understand the two different modes and how they work. We used to sell them, but quite as customers just didn't understand and they got unplugged 95% of the time.

If only they could invent some kind of device that everybody could keep in their pocket and that could use magic waves through the air to make phone calls if the wired system goes down.

Even if something like that existed it would only be a  fad.
