MiCollab Chat Sync
« on: May 14, 2019, 04:41:33 PM »
MiCollab 8.1.1.11

As we roll out the MiCollab app across our company we are finding the Chat service to be unreliable when users have multiple devices with the App.  Case in point is users with the Smartphone App and the PC App.  Inbound chats sometimes make it to both devices or sometimes to only one or the other.  The App could be open and in the foreground on both devices and the chat simply refuses to show up on one of the two devices no matter how many tests we do.  It does not matter if both devices are on the same LAN (no firewall) or on disparate networks.  The result is the same.  Any ideas where to look for in troubleshooting this problem?

On a related note, chats never sync across devices.  The above issue could be mitigated if chats would somehow sync up every now and then, but that does not happen.  Is this the way it's supposed to be?  I look at the chats received on the iPhone and they are not all the same as the chats received on the PC.  That is why it is so easy to notice chats are not making it to both devices.

Thanks.

Mitel dont suppoprt sync of chat messages between devices as per KMS article https://mitel.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1010390/loc/en_US
But apparently this is a feature of the new CloudLink Chat service

Thanks for the link.  We have been using MiCollab for over a year now and everybody loves the Softphone component but pretty much everybody has deemed the chat feature useless because of this and other reasons.  Hopefully Mitel will put more development work into it.

Ideally you want to get your MiCollab environment updated to the latest release (9.1) which will allow you to connect with the Mitel cloudlink service. This is a free service which will be enabled for all your MiCollab users when configured.

Once done it will use cloudlink as the chat provider and means that all messages and chats will be synced and available across all MiCollab devices and makes for a more seamless experience.

Another benefit of v9 is that there is more resilience if your MiCollab server fails. MiCollab client can still get past the initial loading page now if the server connection is unavailable and register the SIP device for call functionality if the MBG/MiVB is still available. Cloudlink chat will also still be available if there are MiCollab issues.

Thanks Martin.  I had no knowledge of this Cloudlink service and that it was free.  I will have to investigate as it does sound like a solution to the problem.
