My main client is spending a lot of money on SWAS, and would like to know if that could be reduced.
The client has a multinational cluster, with about 50 MXe and ISS. Used to be more but we removed the CX and put these people on VOIP through the WAN.
Basically the client wants to keep buying SWAS for the applications (nupoint, micollab, MiCC), for the ISSs hosting the main site and the VOIP users, but stop buying them for the MXes.
The cluster uses license sharing with a DLM.
Would we still need the SWAS for the users ?
We're upgrading from MCD 6.0 to MiVB 8.0 SP2 right now, and the client thinks that we won't be upgrading after that, the number of phones is diminishing, Lync will probably take over in a couple of years.
Is it possible or will we have problems ? For example an MXe drops a hard drive, can I replace it and sync with the AMC without SWAS ?
Thanks for your ideas.
