NuPoint voicemail to email failure

Hello,

I recently transitioned our company from embedded to NuPoint and I've had zero issues with vm to email until now. I have one user the system won't deliver to. I have deleted his NuPoint profile and reset him up but not luck. I found the following logs in qmail

2018-03-21 07:19:26.624345500 starting delivery 643: msg 223273 to remote firstname.lastname@domain.com

2018-03-21 07:19:36.756973500 bounce msg 223273 qp 30460

Not sure what else to try?

Not sure what else to try?
"Unable to relay" is your problem... For some reason Qmail's daemon can't send outside of itself. Check your MSL Configuration E-mail Settings and DNS settings are correct. If you don't have an SMTP server defined it's an internal issue (likely DNS) or the server needs a reboot, if it's handing it off to an Outbound SMTP server, they changed something to not allow relay from the MSL's IP address in that mail server and you will need to contact their mail server's support team.

Wouldn't you think that this would affect all users? I have plenty of other vm to email including myself that receive vm's just fine. I will reboot the server. Not sure what MLS config means but on the NuPoint under email settings we do have a server to use for outbound SMTP configured.

Depends on the destination email... The server may be allowed to relay to certain addresses or domains, but not others.

For example... john@mycompany.com may work fine, but john123@gmail.com or mark@differentcompany.com may fail since the server isn't allowing external relay to those addresses.

But either way, since your using an external SMTP server the MSL server is handing it off to that server and it's returning the Unable to Relay message.

In regards to your comments about different addresses or domains. This user is an employee so his address is the same as mine and all the others that work fine. any pointers on where to look in exchange for logs that might show me the root cause?

Does the email address have any unusual characters in it, or is it of an unusual length?
How do you provision users? From AD? Or did you add all these email addresses manually?
Change the email address to a different email address and test again.

Unfortunately, I do not know where to look in Exchange for this...

Have you tried just removing the SMTP server from the MSL server and using direct delivery?
