Call Forward
« on: January 03, 2018, 09:50:27 AM »
Hello,

I got a number that I'm call forwarding to another number using the call rerouting always form. When I call 1234 it does ring to 5678 but it never hit's 5678's voicemail it just rings forever. 1234 is just a line appearance on 5678 so it doesn't have it's own COS. Is there something that needs to be done in COS on 5678 for vm to be able to pick up?

5678 does have a working voicemail.

Thanks,

Not enough hops allowed in call forwarding? 5678 not forwarded....? or forwarded somewhere else which overrides call rerouting?

I suspect the problem is that you can't reroute a rerouted call.
Using the Call Forwarding Profile form, forward 5678 to VM.
That should fix it.

Ralph,

I don't want someone to call 5678 and go to VM right away. I want 1234 the ability to pickup the call but if they cannot answer go to their existing vm.

I have a few sites who don't have DIDs and now I'm able to get them. Instead of just swapping extensions the business wants me to keep the old number in place for 30 days. If someone calls the new number from the outside world I will get the existing voicemail box which is what I want. Internally, we would also like to advertise the new number but if someone calls that number it just rings and vm never picks up. I'm not sure what x-man is trying to say. How do I find out about number of hops allowed? 5678 is a brand new DID so it's not being forward anywhere else and for now is just a line appearance on the current non-DID.

Thanks,

Is it not forwarded to VM? Number of hops is the number of times a call can be forwarded and is a system setting in system options IIRC. Sometimes set to 2 which is often not enough.

When you ask is it not forwarded to VM are you referring to 5678 the non-DID? Yes, that number is forwarded to vm as I get to vm if I call externally. The number of hops set on this box is 4. I would think that would be enough.

I wonder if its to do with the integration on the system? Has 1234 got a vm?  If not try and give it one ans see if a call in defaults back to 1234's vm. This would confirm whether its to do with the integration or not.

Is this integrated VM or NuPoint?

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear. Don't forward Always, forward RNA.
