Non-Mitel handset on MiVoice Business - no audio
« on: November 27, 2017, 04:48:03 AM »
Hello all,
I’m trying to get a Fanvil handset connected to a Mitel telephone system, and each handset can call the other but there is no audio. Any guides/suggestions to try please? The handset is on a 192.168.17.0/24 network, and the system is on a 192.168.180.0/24 network, but that shouldn’t affect things should it?

Thanks,

Damian Halloran

Are all handsets on the same network?
You need to ensure there is full routing between all networks.

What happens if you call the embedded voicemail on the Mitel system from the Fanvil handset, do you get audio?

Most times it is simply incorrect gateways set on the devices/phones.

Phones will need to be able to talk to each other peer to peer.

A handset is a handset, a station is a station.  Glad your stations are now working

This is always a debate.
I have always called a handset the phone/device and a handpiece the thing that you put up to your ear/mouth.

That's just me and I may be wrong. Maybe I'll just have to start calling them phones from now on.  ;)
We are all from different parts of the globe as well so terminology is always a bit different.

edit: looks like I'm wrong according to Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handset
I'll shut my mouth now.

Wow, having read that, I don't think I will ever again be able to misuse the term "handset".

On the other hand, there is no way I am ever calling it a "station". I might resort to "phone" in future I suppose....
