Call Forwarding Mitel 3300
« on: October 25, 2017, 12:55:28 AM »
Hey all,

Hopefully this is an easy issue for someone to explain to me.
I've recently acquired a Mitel 3300 system and right now I seem to be experiencing some issues with Call Forwarding, specifically when the call is originating from an external number. Internal calls work perfectly, so I don't understand why the external ones are not.

I've looked over various posts in the forum trying to find similar posts and follow steps outlined there but none of them have resolved the issue I am facing :(

I've rebooted the system and tested the problem across various different ip phones (our fleet are Mitel 5320 IP phones)
Checked the prefix is enabled on the dial out for the phones with call forward enabled
Checked the CoS options to confirm that the following are enabled;   Public Network Access via DPNSS ; Public Network To Public Network Connection Allowed; Call Forwarding (External Destination)

There are other aspects of the Mitel 3300 I wasn't sure about regarding the CoR or CoR Groups for a specific user or user group or the Trunk attribute settings (excuse my ignorance on telephony systems, they are not my strong point).

This service has worked in the past and nothing to my knowledge has changed (I could be wrong).

Any suggestions on where I should be checking next would be amazing.

Thank you all in advance!
Vert

What type of Trunks/Lines do you have and what carrier/provider?

There can be issues where the system will try and pass the caller id of the originating caller through to the external person and this can cause the call to fail.

On the phones you can set call forwarding for internal only calls. Take a peek at your Call Forwarding Profile form and verify that Call Forward Type is set to "Always" for one of the extensions that has call forwarding enabled.

I am not entirely sure, sarond. I know the service is provided by Optus. Is there a way you may be able to guide me to find this information for you :)  ?

Had a look at these ZuluAlpha and the call type for forwarding is definitely set to Always.

Are you onsite or remote to the system?

Can you see what type of Optus device is connected? Maybe a model number.
You could also try and work your way backwards from ARS routes to find the trunk groups whether they are TDM or SIP.

I am onsite.

The mitel connects into an SHDSL modem (ASMi-52) but then has patching cables at the back of it down to the MDF.

But the ARS Routes are listed as TDM Trunk Groups

Thanks

OK sounds like you have ISDN/E1/PRI whatever you want to call it.

Because they are digital trunks caller id could be causing issues.

As a test navigate to
Trunks>Digital>ISDN>ISDN Protocol
Change the link of your ISDN (I'm hoping there is only 1)
Set "Replace External CLID" to True

Test an external call.

I do believe it is ISDN,
Under this protocol I only have 1 option to change and when changing Replace External CLID to True from False, I am still able to call out externally (which hasnt been an issue by the way, its only when it attempts to forward the call) But I did notice when though I ended the call on my desk phone my mobile phone was still ringing which was odd!

Thanks

Yes, sorry meant to say test an external diverted call.(forwarded)
Did it work?

It will be ISDN to the system but Optus will have it as a different protocol to the NTU.

Your mobile should not keep ringing regardless of the that option being set.

Sounds like a carrier issue. You may have to do a wireshark trace to see what the error is. My best guess will be somewhere on the providers side since you are dealing with a forwarded call. What digit do you dial for an external call and you do have that in the dial string for the forwarded call? Have you tried putting the number that you forward to in a speed call with the override toll control set to yes?
