g722 codec
« on: September 26, 2017, 03:47:01 AM »
HI All ,
Does mitel 3300 support codec g722. In codec list i can see both codecs are avilable .I turned the g722.1codec on from mitel PBX by selecting "no" and i can see the outbound invite contains payload type "102" which is for g722.1 .(its only working for mitel IP phone 5330 and 5360) but when i turned the g722 codec from the codec list by selecting "no" to the specific codec , the PBX should send the invite with g722 codec for the outbound call but this is not happening.

Is g722 is a supported codec for mitel 3300 if yes how can i enable it.

What are you talking to... A SIP phone/device or a SIP trunk? I don't believe the 3300 supports G.722 with SIP trunking, only G.711 or G.729...

Thanks @acejavelin for the quick response. Actually its a SIP trunk. And I am trying to execute the scenario where I have to make an outbound call and codec G722 should be getting negotiated but whenever I am making an outbound call by enabling the g722 codec from codec list ,the invite from PBX does not have the payload type for g722.

If its not supported for a sip trunk, could you please send me any reference document from Mitel that mentioned the same.
I Appreciate your support...

Regards
Saroj

Saroj- Do you have multiple PBX's networked? Is the network element for the SIP gateway in the same zone as the PBX? If it is not in the same zone, it will not negotiate g.722. I have had issues getting g.722 negotiation with other vendor equipment. I do have a SIP trunk between my Mitel and a Polycom audio/video conference bridge working at g.722 and I had to make sure they were in the same zone.

I'm trying to get the G.722 codec working for internal calls between 6940 and UC360 but still no luck. According to the documentation both devices should support G.722 codec. Both devices are in Zone 1 (intra zone compression turned off), in Codec Settings the "G722 Filtered" is set to "No". The UC360 sends the G.722 codec as a first option:

v=0
o=403 0 0 IN IP4 172.20.20.150
s=-
c=IN IP4 172.20.20.150
b=TIAS:64000
b=AS:96
t=0 0
m=audio 50366 RTP/AVP 9 103 0 8 101
b=TIAS:64000
b=AS:96
a=maxprate:100.0
a=rtcp:50367
a=sendrecv
a=rtpmap:9 G722/8000
a=fmtp:9 bitrate=64000
a=rtpmap:103 G7221/16000
a=fmtp:103 bitrate=32000
a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000
a=rtpmap:8 PCMA/8000
a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000
a=fmtp:101 0-11,16

but the ICP selects G.711u for the 6940:

v=0
o=- 4480 4480 IN IP4 172.20.20.41
s=-
c=IN IP4 172.20.20.41
t=0 0
m=audio 50054 RTP/AVP 8 101
a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000
a=fmtp:101 0-15

Any ideas?
