Using Account Codes

In a MCD 4.1 MXE II Controller, I have any long distance calls placed to access a route with Non-Verified Account Codes enabled. Is this the only place I need to have this programmed? 

for example,

9, 123-456-7890
I suspect it will not go any further until the 4 digit account code is entered after the 10 digits are dialed correct?

All a non-verified account code does is change the SMDR record so that the call can be tracked for accounting.
It doesn't do any thing for outbound call restriction.
So after dialing you 10 digits, the call will just go out.
Once the call is established, (in or out) you should have the ability on your display phone to enter an account code.

If you wish to restrict calls, you must use verified account codes.  To use, enter the account code feature code, account code, 9+number.

thanks ralph,

I enabled Forced Verified Account Codes in the class of service of a 5312.
When I lift up the handset, i have to press the Acct Veried key on the phone and it returns a dial tone, then i can place a all.  Now the problem is I have to do it when I make enternal calls as well.

I may have given you some bad info.
Set the COS to use "account code verified"   Do not use "Forced account code"

Change the COR of the phones to restrict them from dialing out.   What that number will be depends on who set up your system.  Make a note of what it was before changing it.

Next create "independent account code"   Match the COS and the original COR.

Next, check in your feature access codes to see what your account code feature code is.

Now, internal calls work normally.   To make an external call, dial the Feature access code, account code and then "#" then 9+number.

It doesn't matter what the trunk type is.
The account code changes the COR of the phone.  ARS then checks your COR to see if it's allowed to use that route.
