Intermittent PRI Drop-outs
« on: April 26, 2010, 06:04:06 AM »
Hi

Since upgrading to MCD 4.1 (10.1.0.69_1), I have been having intermittent drop-outs on my E1.  I upgraded the software on a Thursday evening but on the following Sunday, we started having intermittent call drop-outs on both inbound and outbound calls and a 'ticking' every ten seconds or so on the external parties phone.

Our PBX tech guys have suggested that this is a carrier-side issue but they've been unable to find any issues and it seems strange that the ISDN service had been running perfectly for the 12 months leading up to the upgrade.  A restart of the card (LOAD 6 1 2) does not seem to resolve the issue but a restart of the controller (LOAD 1) does seem to rectify the issue for a couple of days but both times I've restarted the controller, the issue has returned.

I'd be interested in any opinions/suggestions you may have.

Following are the logs that constantly appear the systems maintenance logs:

Thanks. So from this I can see that the Link in the last 24 hours has been fully usable, which would not indicate any errors on the link itself.

I can see why the Maintainer suggested that this is a carrier issues, as it does indicate a far end alarm.

With the information you provided I would have to agree. There are no indications, that this is a fault with the hardware / software.

However, If you have access to the 3300 can you monitor the link light on the Framer, and tell us what happens. If the link light goes from green to yellow consistantly, then I would replace the cabling from the 3300 to the NTE and if not then that would be a good place to start anyway.

I have had similar issues recently on MCD 4.0 SP2 and T1. Same type of logs and mostly the same DTSTAT results. I am the VAR so everyone looks at me. Mitel can find nothing wrong and the provider says the same (imagine that). My problems do seem to be on one link so I have moved it to the end of the list and everything seems to be working well. I finally have the end user changing the T1s to PRI so that I have more diagnostic tools.

Thanks for your responses.

To answer your questions Mitel100, the link light on the E1 port on the PBX remains solid green.  As does the sync light on the NTU.....

Also, as this is our only link, I do not have the option to re-configure to prioritise calls in/out of a particular link.

I'll keep hassling the service provider and the re-seller and see how far I get.

Thanks again!
