Silence on Conf call when another call comes in...
« on: February 12, 2010, 03:30:15 PM »
Hey guys! We got a strange thing going on here.

Two people have informed me about an issue that is occuring.  If they are on a conference call, and another call comes in, the conference call is silenced, and all they hear is the ringing of the phone.  I believe they are using speaker phone when this occurs.

Any thoughts?  What other information do you need?  I am trying to get a more acurate explaination, but you know how the end users are.  I cannot replicate it myself.

Thanks

-Evan

Need a little more detail here.
What type of phone?
Are they on speaker phone?
Are the other calls outside or inside?
What version of software?

Lets see...

Using the 5330
ICP 3300 Sw Ver. 9..0.2.31_1

It appears it happens when they are conference call to one of those bridges (dial into an 800 number).  The other call that comes in, as far as i know does not make a difference if it is internal or external.

Yes it seems to be when they are on speakerphone.  Not sure if it happens on handset.

Oh yea...this happens on two different ICPs...same SW ver.

Thanks again

-Evan

Any thoughts on this?  It does not occur when using handset.

On the line the call rings in on, what is the ring type?
i.e. ring, delay, ring cont,  etc?

The line that rings on these phones are set to RING CONT.

What are the differences between the rings?  Will changing this setting help?

just shooting from the hip here but if it only happens when on speakerphone is it because the speakerphone is only half duplex ( I.E if you are speaking you cannot recieve)? I'm pretty sure this is how the standard speakerphone works.

What happens is you get into the conference and switch the 'microphone' button off so that the mic is muted? do you hear the other end?

Change the ring type to "Ring" and retest.   I suspect the "Ring Cont" will overide the speaker phone.
