Changing Ring Group to Hunt Group
« on: February 02, 2010, 04:32:32 AM »
Hi all,

So our phone system was left with us with all the lines on a ring group that diverts to VM after a certain number of rings.  Fine, but we need only the next person in line's phone to ring when a call comes through, then, to go to voicemail if there is no answer.  Does anyone know if this is possible to do on a ring group, or, does this have to be a hunt group?  If so, does anyone know which settings to put in to set this hunt group up?

Thanks all.

W.

If I understand you correctly, I think all you need to do is change the ring group type from a "Ring All" to a "Cascade Ring".

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I did change it to cascade, however, am I right in thinking it will always pick the first person in the list of people to ring?  As we would like calls to be dished out evenly.

You are correct.  The first person in the list gets the call.
You'll need to change to a hunt group or ACD group to spread the calls out.
